So I’m Mark. The I Am Blessed Husband. I’ve decided to hijack Hayley’s blog every so often to provide you a different perspective. An alternate take on who she is, what she does, and what she creates. I watch daily the care and attention she gives her work in our home near Vancouver, BC, Canada.
It begins with her self-care (yoga) to put herself in an open, mindful, receptive state. It continues in the sourcing of her mala necklace materials. I’ll watch her agonize over whether to purchase one kind of bead for a work or another. Now I’m a guy so admittedly I don’t get it. I mean, c’mon…It’s one blue bead vs. another. But not to her. She’ll know the properties of the stone each is made of, how that property is altered depending on where it comes from, and how that will mesh with the other stones she’s already targeted for the mala necklace or beaded bracelet.
She’s like a gemstone google.
Then the design process. She’ll take as much time as she needs to make sure that both the colour scheme and the gemstone property scheme match the intention chosen for the piece. Sometimes she’ll ask my opinion about a tassel. It’s kind of cute. Like Picasso asking a two year old finger painter about light and shading.
Then I watch her knot each meditation bead meticulously into the necklace. 108 times. All the while setting the jewelry’s intention and checking each transition to ensure the piece will sit smoothly on its eventual owner. By the time she gets done cleansing, smudging, photographing and posting it…let me tell you it has gone way beyond “handmade”.
She is part of its Energy.
But that’s a topic for another post. So yes I’m her husband which means I support her. But believe me when I say that I am awed by what she does under the I Am Blessed Mala Bead brand. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. You can’t really pick up on the physical and spiritual beauty and quality of her work from a few pixels on your smartphone. So let me be your fair witness. When it’s in your hands you will be thrilled! Till next time.
